What Do the Colors Mean (Superset vs Circuit)?

In some workouts, exercises are color-coded to indicate how they should be performed.

Superset (Green)

A superset means you alternate between two exercises.

  • Perform Exercise 1

  • Then perform Exercise 2

  • Rest (if prescribed)

  • Repeat for the designated number of sets

Supersets always involve two exercises.

Circuit (Blue)

A circuit means you move sequentially through three or more exercises.

  • Perform Exercise 1

  • Then Exercise 2

  • Then Exercise 3 (and possibly more)

  • Rest after completing the full round

  • Repeat the circuit as prescribed

Circuits involve three or more exercises with little or no rest between movements.
